Ways to Create a Fun Halloween Atmosphere

Hello from Zero-Ten Park Singapore, the best serviced office and co-working space in CBD Singapore!

Contrary to popular belief, the traditions of Halloween that we know today is a melding of practices from a mishmash of cultures. Some practices are derived from Samhain festivities in Britain, and some from the All Hallows Eve celebrations in Britain and across Europe, and some from other traditions. Some practices are also newly invented! Haunted houses and horror movies are of course modern phenomena, but are inextricably linked to the Halloween season these days.

Also, the tradition of pumpkin carving originated from Ireland and Scotland, where people carved turnips, potatoes, and beets into lanterns to ward off evil spirits. Upon immigration to North America in the 1800s, the Scottish and Irish immigrants found that native pumpkins were larger, easier to carve, and more visually striking than turnips, leading to the well-known custom of today.

While not a traditional celebration in Singapore, there is no doubt that Halloween is increasingly embraced here. Why not kickstart the Halloween mood with some of the recommendations below:
